What were your memories of sport at school?
“My teachers and coaches had a huge impact on me, they helped me develop my skills and encouraged me to work hard and enjoy my sport.”
How did you cope with sporting set–backs and has this changed with your approach to a set–back now?
“Set-backs are a part of sport. There are no guarantees in sport, and that adds to the excitement of it. You have to be able to keep going even after a defeat.”
Memories of your 1st rugby team?
“In my first rugby team we sometimes didn′t have enough players for a match! We still played though and had a few big losses!”
What is your best memory in sport?
“My best memory is scoring the winning try in the 2003 World Cup final.”
When did you decide that you wanted to be a professional rugby player and when did you realise that it was possible?
“I realised at about 15 years old that I wanted to be a professional rugby player. I didn't think I would play for such a good club, but I was spotted by scouts and that helped me achieve my ambition and dream.”
What was the first sports club that you joined?
“My first sports club was called The Hunslet Boys Club.”
