Paula′s training tips
- Always wear good trainers. They don′t need to be the ‘in’ trainers as long as they′re supporting your feet well, that′s the most important thing.
- Really try and concentrate during training because the better focused you are in training then the better your performance will be during a competition, should you wish to compete.
- Try and factor in some time to warm up. Warming up is important. Walk briskly first. Once your muscles are warm stretch properly. Ask your PE teacher or someone that knows to teach you how to stretch properly so that you don′t damage your body.
- Try not to get too over enthusiastic at the beginning, I know it′s hard! Build up your training gradually e.g walk run – walk, run – walk – run.
- Ask a friend to train with you, it′s more fun with others!
- When possible, try and run on grass or softer surfaces, it is better for you or joints and helps you to recover more quickly.
